Most implant materials neither integrate with tissues, nor support new bone formation. This may cause compli- cations such as perforation of the skin, infection and the need to remove the implant
Our mission is to support surgeons by developing implantable products that improve clinical results, reduce complication rates and lower costs for hospitals.
Oss-Q is an emerging orthopedic medical device company based on know-how and intellectual property in biomaterials from the Karolinska University Hospital and Uppsala University. Our passion is to develop implantable products that better respond to clinical challenges, with special focus on bone healing. We use new design solutions, material compositions and manufacturing processes mainly based on proprietary bioceramic technologies. All rights to develop, market and sell products based on this intellectual property have been assigned from the inventors to Oss-Q.
Our vision is:
To build an integrated medical device firm based on direct sales on niche markets,
primarily skull-surgery.
To develop markets in other segments of orthopedics, e.g. fracture fixation,
in collaboration with strategic partners.
A Passion for Better Bone Healing
The strategy of Oss-Q is to exploit the company´s technology platforms to develop a range of implantable ceramic products in new, unique shapes and configurations. Our lead product is Mosaik, an implant for the repair of skull defects (cranioplasty).
We use the types of bioceramics that are well-known to integrate with tissues and support bone ingrowth, which ultimately is needed for long-term successful outcomes. We believe this can reduce the risk of complications, save the patient from pain and reduce costs for hospitals.
Our primary focus is skull surgery. The key customers are neurosurgeons, craniofacial and maxillofacial surgeons. After Mosaik, other products are at various stages of conception.
